I told my wife that I don’t do valentine… So this isn’t a valentine’s message🙄…
As I prayed and prepared my sermon for a meeting, I stumbled on Matthew 13:15 and it left me very emotional. I literally prayed to God that nobody under my watch would sleep until they get what I’m about to share with you.
To show you how urgent the revelation is, God didn’t allow me to teach the sermon I had prepared, the moment I was about commencing my teaching, the revelation popped up. I had to apologize to the congregation and changed the message.
Amazingly, this is a scripture I had read over and again. I’m sure you’ve also encountered the scripture several times:
Matthew 13:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Yes, that’s the scripture. But it’s unfortunate that the subsequent verses didn’t say much about the sleepy state of man except for one thing which I’d be unveiling shortly.
A sleepy state is a dangerous state for a believer. The devil may wrestle with you when you are awake (of which you can easily prevail against him), but he only needs to sow trouble when you sleep.
Notice that the scripture says he’d leave you the moment he has sown the tares. He has already sown a seed of destruction, what is he still doing around you? He just needs to patiently wait for the seed to germinate.
According to the Psalmist, the devil fights us daily, and the reason why he keeps fighting is so that he can sow a seed of destruction if we sleep.
Some Christians gave in to the lust of the flesh, committed fornication of a few minutes that led to pregnancy. Now that little mistake may create a scandal, especially if you’re a popular figure. You slept!
You had the chance to resist the temptation to forge or inflate a receipt, but you slept through the lust of the eyes. Now you’ve been caught and the company is threatening a sack. You slept!
Like Joseph, when you see evil, flee! Don’t wait to negotiate, because the lust you didn’t know was inside you may suddenly emerge, and by then it may be too late to flee. Even if you eventually flee, you may go back because lust had already been registered or conceived in your mind.
If you don’t trust yourself with money, don’t join them in counting offering in church, neither should you work in finance department. Stop tempting yourself with something you already know is your weakness. Focus on your strenghts.
Now they asked you to go deposit the money in the bank, only for you to cook up a story that you were robbed. Really bro, was it robbery or you slept? The enemy successfully sowed tares and left.
Don’t accept to counsel a lady alone when you know you easily lust after ladies. Just because you’re a prayer warrior doesn’t mean you can have a prayer partner with an opposite sex. Now from prayer meeting to the bedroom and a person who should be your prayer partner would now become a pregnant partner. You slept, and the enemy came and sowed pregnancy as tares.
So don’t sleep. To sleep in this case means to let your guards down for a moment or to consider or try antiscriptural things. To be in a state of reduced consciousness of scriptural principles. To be careless, inattentive, or unconcerned; not vigilant; to live thoughtlessly.
Trust me, you may not be lucky if you sleep, again. Because if the devil succeeds in sowing tares during that sleepy state, you’d have to live the next phase of your life with it.
Oh, you didn’t know? Let’s read the subsequent verses:
Matthew 13:
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Did you notice verse 30? “Let both grow together”? Yes bro, you and the situation your sleepy state created will grow together, except you extricate yourself from this world.
So if you don’t want that to happen, be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Or in this case, seeking where he may sow trouble.
I hope this has brought deliverance to someone. And if there’s anyone who’s already in trouble, may God’s mercy prevail for you, in Jesus name!
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
