“Pastor, my plans to travel abroad for greener pastures is fifty percent done. But I’m afraid that I may fail to complete the process. What can I do?”

I totally understand how you feel right now, but you you’d need to deal with that fear before it unleashes its full power on you.

That’s right! Even though fear is not a spiritual thing, it can mess up your soul, the same soul that houses your spirit. Sometimes the devil doesn’t need to kill your spirit by tempting you to sin, he just needs to take over your soul so that your spirit man would have no place to operate.

Proverbs 29:25 clearly tells us that, “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe”. The word snare in that scripture simply means a mental or psychological trap. In other words, fear can trap a person to live with a difficult situation created in the soul realm. I perceive that most of the challenges many Christians go through are not necessarily spiritual; rather, they are something their fear created.

I was told that when a person goes to hell, his punishment would be an entrapment in his worst moment while he was alive. He’d keep re-living that moment till eternity. Even though that’s not how scripture describes hell, that explanation is relevant to what I’m sharing with you. Fear can trap you in a situation that was created by your soul. Despite all you’ve spent to process your document for the trip, the devil can make things difficult around you and suggest to you that the only way you can get the money you need is to steal. And because you’ve been soulish, or rather, because your spirit man hasn’t been active, you may accede. That’s how what was never a problem would officially become a problem. That’s right! Failure or the possibility of failing was never a problem.

As we speak, I worry that you may have been entrapped already, because the fact that you are afraid to fail simply tells me that you haven’t read your bible. It’s true that the prophetic destiny of every believer is continuous progress. But read your Bible, many great men failed even before they became a success. Haven’t you read that the just man falleth seven times but still will rise again? Failure has never been something to be feared, not even in the kingdom. Failure only reveals a wrong way to get things done, and all we have to do is receive grace to try again. Grace is always available to try again, you just need to have faith in God’s word.

Speaking of faith, the Just shall live by faith, not by fear. God knows that things only get worse when we live by fear, that’s why He forewarned us to live by faith. When Job feared, things became really bad for him. But when he began to trust God, things became better. Faith is a product of your convictions about God’s word. So beyond the things that are currently happening in your life, what do you know about God that can put you back in command? If you can’t find anything you can hold on to, then commit to building your faith. There’s nothing God cannot do, but there’s also nothing He will do when fear is present. Without faith, it is important to please God.

Despite prevailing circumstances or the possibility of failure, our response to life should always be faith in God, not fear. Those three Hebrew boys were faced with the possibility of burning to hashes, yet they didn’t express fear, but faith. Death is the worse that could happen to any man, yet they were not afraid of dying. Even with the threat of death, they still expressed faith. How dare you express fear just because you think your plan to travel may fail?

There’s no better way to build faith than to read deep spiritual materials. I’ve authored almost 60 books already, I’m sure you’d find one or two that would destroy the fear in your heart. The more spiritual food you take in, the more empowered your spirit man becomes to control the operations of the soul.
