“BITTERLEAF SOUP” ISN’T ACTUALLY A BITTER SOUP…

“A man from Levi and a woman from Levi” was how the bible described the parents of the man who delivered the people of Israel from Egypt. His name was Moses; but that was a name someone else gave to him because she drew him out of water.

Just imagine, he didn’t even have a name from his biological parents. And the name he managed to get had a direct connection to his bitter past. Such things can negatively influence one’s future.

But no, not Moses! Instead, he rewrote the story of his people from his bitter past. He took the task to deliver his people from the hands of Pharaoh. And that’s how someone who was drawn out from water became a deliverer.

That’s how we should handle our bitter experiences. Use them to write a positive future story. An Igbo person who knows how to cook “bitterleaf soup” also knows how to make it have a sweet taste at the end. Don’t allow your bitter experiences determine the outcome of your future. Handle those bitter experiences like “bitterleaf”; wash them with God’s word, and spice them up with some positive attitudes, you’d definitely have a sweet future.

Let me conclude with this; face your past without regrets, handle your present with confidence, life is sweet if you know how to live. May God give us understanding!

God bless you, I love you, and don’t forget to share!
