“Pastor, how do I start a new month as a Christian?”
I’d show you two secrets that will help you make the most of any new month, new year, or any new thing.
1. REVERENCE GOD
Some Christians are often very casual in their approach to new things, and that’s why many of them give up when things get hard. If God gave you a new thing, it’s only wisdom to acknowledge Him before you start using or running that new thing.
In the beginning of any new thing, God has to be present. In the beginning of your business, your marriage, your career, a new month, or even a new year, God has to be reverenced. If you put God in the middle, I’m not sure what will become of that thing. You can’t put God in the middle of what He created.
Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created…”. So the moment you see the beginning of any good thing, you should know that God created it and He only gave you a privilege to witness it.
So if God is not there in the beginning, the chances of succeeding in that new thing alone is low. It’s almost like someone consulted you to manage a business he created and you decided to claim ownership by registering the business in a different name. Meanwhile, the business had previously been registered. Don’t you think it would be easy to apprehend you? That’s what many Christians do when they don’t acknowledge God at the beginning of anything, they try to run it in their name. And believe me, except the Lord builds a house, they labout in vain that builds it.
The most potent way to reverence God is by thanking Him for the new thing. In Malachi 2:2, God was unreserved about what He’d do to anyone that withholds His glory. It says, “If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
So you see, a curse awaits anyone that deprives God of a glory that belongs to Him.
Asides that, thanksgiving is a very powerful mystery. Everything you thank God for is sanctified and seperated unto God, which literally means that God takes over the maintenance of that thing. 1 Timothy 4:4 says, “For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with Thanksgiving”. Just look at that, you won’t suffer rejection or refusal from anything you offered thanksgiving to God for.
This means that if I thank God for a new month, then I won’t experience any form of rejection. If I thank God for a business, I won’t suffer refusal or rejection. Wow! Wow! Wow! This is so powerful!
The second thing you must do to start a new month is:
2. DECLARE GOD’S WORD
Even though God created the month for you to enjoy, there’s a possibility that the devil has sown disfavor and all forms of darkness. We were told that the very earth that God created was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the waters.
Normally, we know that everything God creates is good, so it’s definitely the devil that brought darkness upon the earth that God previously created. Knowing this, God didn’t give up on the earth He previously created, instead, we were told that He began to “make” the earth habitable just by speaking His word. If you notice, John didn’t use the word “create”, he used the word “made”.
The word “Create” in a sense brings something new to the world that does not already exist. Example: “mobile phone” or “Internet”. While “Make” in a sense puts together the creation and makes something innovative. Example: “smart phone”, “4G , 5G”.
So now you’d understand the difference between what God created and what God used the Word to make. All things were made by the word, but the earth was created by God. If the earth had not been created, there’d be nothing for the word to make. The bible told us how all things were made or formed – which is by the word, but it certainly didn’t tell us how God created the earth, we just know He created it.
The same way, God created the month for you, and you may not be able to explain how He created the month. However, to ensure that your month which God created is not without form and empty, you have to make what you want by His Word. Hallelujah!
Arise therefore, after you’ve thanked Him, begin to speak words of life into the month. Don’t assume anything at all, speak exactly what you’d like to see. Declare light and displace any trace of darkness. This month will end in praise for you!
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Happy new month, and remain ever blessed!
