“Pastor, my family has suffered so much oppression and wickedness, and even though I pray night and day about it, nothing seems to be changing. What can I do?”

There are many reasons why a whole family may be suffering Satan’s oppression, but seeing that you’ve been praying about it without any notable change, then we need to borrow wisdom from scriptures.

In Isaiah 59, the bible unveils a prophetic event that happened with God’s people. They clearly had a great life, but it seemed they began to do things that were displeasing to God and God had to give a record of how they transitioned from good to worse. Let’s read some of the verses:

Isaiah 59:
1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they make hast to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

If we observe verse 1 and 2, it is clear that they prayed to God to help them during their hard times, but clearly, God didn’t respond. And the reason why God did not respond was stated, “their iniquities seperated them from God, and their sin hid God’s face from them”.

Think about it, how can you pray to a God that has been seperated from you, or a God who’s face is hidden from you? If His face is hidden from you, it means you can’t seek His face.

Could this be the case with your family? Could it be that the iniquity or sins of your family has hidden God’s face from your family? Could this be why it seems as though God is not answering your prayers?

If yes, then I’d like you to know that God is displeased about the situation. He’s displeased because there’s no justice, and justice can only be served when you’ve received judgment from God.

Believe me, oppression will continue as long as there’s no judgment from God. Job’s oppression continued until God judged the matter. The moment God judged it, Satan took his hands off Job’s case. Many families are suffering Satan’s oppression because they’ve not secured God’s judgment.

Adam and Eve would have reclaimed their dominion if they asked God to judge their sin. Instead, they hid themselves from God. The punishment may have been lighter if they had the boldness to approach God. Unfortunately, they lost their dominion to lack of this understanding.

God’s judgment may or may not come with punishment, but the good part is, no matter what punishment is issued after judgment, the blood of Jesus has already paid the price for us. Which means we’d literally go free. That’s why when you ask God to judge you or your family, you should ask Him to judge you under the blood of Jesus.

Judgment cannot be issued without admittance and repentance from sin. So you can stand as an intercessor on behalf of your family and repent of every sin you can remember in your family or bloodline. Repent from covenants that was made with altars, and anything you can remember. Repent from the lies that were told and the betrayals. Repent from the sins of fornication, the sins of adultery, the sins of stealing, just repent from any sin you know your family may have committed. The fact that Jesus died for our sin doesn’t mean there’s no need for repentance from sin. His blood created a possibility to be free from the consequences of sin after repentance. The blood of Jesus will never work without genuine repentance.

Once you’re done repenting, ask the Lord to judge your family under the blood of Jesus. Remember that God’s judgment is the only thing that can stop Satan’s oppression. As long as Satan finds a sin that hasn’t been judged by God, he can oppress you and your family with it. The wages of sin will always be death.

Once you’ve asked God to judge your family, then you can start making declarations of your freedom from the holds of Satan on your family. At this point, you can even engage the angels with boldness to enforce God’s judgment. Satan can no longer oppress you as long as you’ve been judged by God.
