“Pastor, what kind of business are you doing to make money? You don’t seem to have any financial problems”

Let’s not make the mistake of Samson who ignorantly gave natural reasons for his unusual strenght. All along his strength was sponsored by the Spirit of God, yet he didn’t know it. Let’s see how scriptures put it:

Judges 16:
6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.
16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death
17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her. There hath not come a rasor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

Ofcourse, I work with my hands, the bible recommends that we find something doing, but what I do isn’t the reason why I don’t have financial problems. I may give you a long list of everything I do for business, but just like Delilah, you may end up frustrated if you venture into them.

If you observe verse 17, Samson said if his hair was cut off, he’d become like a natural man. That’s almost like saying, if the government bans my business, I’d become a poor man. Isn’t that a lie from the pit of hell? God didn’t put our blessings in physical things, He put them in Christ in heavenly places. So just because my business is down doesn’t mean poverty will strike, no! I’d put pressure on the blessings of God upon my life until another business is produced. In fact, you won’t even notice that a business was down.

We’ve already been told from scriptures that physical things are temporal. And that means physical things don’t stand the test of time. A particular business cannot exempt you from financial problems except it is being supported or sponsored by a greater influence.

As Christians, the blessings of God upon us has a mandate to make us rich without a trace of sorrow, and it won’t depend on the popularity or lucrative nature of a particular business to do so. The blessings of God upon us can prosper us through any legitimate business we do, even if it’s to polish shoes for a living. This is actually one area where many Christians miss it, everything else goes down for them the moment they lose their business. It shouldn’t be so. If you are in that situation right now, I recommend you read my book titled “WHO GOD HAS BLESSED”.

Psalms chapter one unveils something that is worthy of note. Let’s read a few verses:

Psalm 1:
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Notice the concluding part of verse 3, “whatsoever you do shall prosper”. That word “WHATSOEVER” shouldn’t be far from your vocabulary. So it’s not about what you do, but about the godly counsel you practice.

You probably know the diverse sins you shouldn’t commit, so I won’t even go into that. However, let me conclude with two things you should take seriously if you want to prosper in any business.

– BE CONTENTED

Godliness with contentment will always bring great gain. Some Christians struggle financially only because their speeches and conversations are full of covetousness. They talk as though their success depends on physical occurrences. Let’s deal with that!

– BE A GIVER, ESPECIALLY TO GOD AND HIS KINGDOM

God is looking for people He can enthrust with wealth that will serve nations. While it’s easy for us to ask Him to trust us, He can’t trust us without a test. I’ve often said the ten percent tithe we’re admonished to pay is just a basic test to soften our heart towards God. The real test is in being able to give God your entire heart. At that point, it’s not ten percent you’d give God, you’d give Him anything He wants.

Save this message. Read it everyday until it sinks. I strongly believe that 2023 will be a better year for you if you practice what I’ve shared here.
