“Pastor, God told me many things that He wants to do for me, but it’s been many years now, yet it doesn’t feel like any of them will happen. What do I do?”

Let me begin by saying, one of the reasons why we receive revelations like that is because God wants us to know what’s in His mind, or rather, what He is thinking towards us. Perhaps you saw yourself in a dream driving big cars and living in mansions, you saw yourself having a beautiful family alongside a flourishing business. As beautiful as they may have appeared in your dreams or visions, they are the thoughts that God has towards you. Let’s see how scriptures put it:

Jeremiah 29:
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Imagine that someone is thinking of buying you a car. You both probably work together and see each other everyday, yet, you’d never know he’s been nursing a thought to buy you a car or even send you abroad. In some extreme cases, you may even start a quarrel with that person over unworthy issues. And that’s because you didn’t know.

On the other hand, if you knew, your character and composure towards that person would definitely be the best at all times🤣. Everything you’d do from the moment that thought was shared with you would be to please the person.

According to that scripture, when God reveals something He wants to do, He expects us to commit ourselves to Him so that what He’s thinking can be manifested. In verse 11, after He established that His thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace and a good future, He continues in verse 12 by telling us to call upon Him in prayer and He will hear. So it’s not enough to be privy to God’s thoughts towards you, you also need to pray it into manifestation.

But just incase you’ve been praying and nothing seems to be working, verse 13 tells us what next to do, it says, “you shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”. In other words, you’re probably not in a position or a realm where God can answer your prayer. According to verse 12, God will hear you when you pray, but just because He heard doesn’t mean He will answer. It’s one thing to hear and another to answer. You may ask me for a pen, and even though I heard, it’s totally my decision to honour your request.

If God is not answering your prayers, then it simply means you’ve not found Him, and finding Him is not a possibility without a search.

According to scriptures, there’s only one certified personality that can search and find God, The Holy Spirit. Let’s see how scriptures put it:

1 Corinthians 2:
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

So we see in those verses that The Holy Spirit searches even the secrets things of God, and that no man can know the secret things of God without the partnership of The Holy Spirit.

This is where fasting becomes a necessity. The Holy Spirit will only bear witness with our spirit, not our flesh. You can’t search for God in the energy of the flesh, you have to be in the spirit. And there’s no way a man can be in the spirit except he practices a fasted life.

It’s unfortunate that most Christians fast only in the beginning of the year. Fasting is not for starting the year, it’s for transferring dominion to our spirit. When our spirit rules our body, receiving from God would become easier. The reason for the delay in the life of many Christians is their inability to live a fasted life. Living a fasted life doesn’t mean you have to fast everyday, it just mean you should have a balanced feeling. If you feed your flesh today, feed your spirit tomorrow. Man shall not live by bread alone, but also by the word of God. And we all know that the word of God flows better when in the spirit.

One of the things I’ve discovered is that scriptures are easier to understand when I’m in the spirit. And because it is easier to understand, my understanding of the word grows better and faster. As that happens, my faith becomes stronger to receive whatever God has promised.

So, train your body to fast, because fasting initiates your search for God. Read your Bible, anytime people wanted God’s intervention, they declared a fast.

As I conclude, just because you didn’t eat does not mean you’d find God. Fasting demands that you study the scriptures and pray with the revelations you found. If you’re not doing that while you fast, then your chances of finding God would be slim.

The good news is, when you eventually find God, He’d turn your captivity and give you your desired breakthrough. Verse 14 says, “And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive”. Is this beautiful?
