“Pastor, I’ve been fasting and praying for some days now, yet I still get demonic attacks in the night. Does it mean my prayer isn’t enough?”

Well, it depends on what you’re praying for. For instance, if you’re fasting and praying for a house, or a car, or a job, a life partner, or any natural or material thing, the possibility of sending demons away is very slim, and that’s because demons are not scared of natural things, they are scared of power.

Demons won’t stop attacking you just because God gave you a house, or a car, or even a spouse. As a matter of experience, the more material things you receive from God, the more attack you attract. This is actually one of the reasons why God will not give prosperity to people who have not received the power to get wealth.

In my opinion, fasting and praying for material things is sublime displacement; you should fast and pray for wisdom that would make you a commander in all things. That’s right! Man was given dominion over the earth in the beginning, it’s just unfortunate that he lost it to Satan. But now that Jesus has become the propitiation for our sin, we have a responsibility to work our way back to that place of dominion and authority.

As a lady, perhaps you’ve been praying for a life partner for some years now and nothing seems to be happening, maybe it’s time to change your prayer point. The bible says “he that finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord”. In other words, there are two signs that will show when a man finds his wife, she’d bring both good and favour to him. I’ve heard sad experiences from men on how everything about their life began to go down when they met a certain lady, and instead of planning towards marriage, they find a way to extricate themselves from the relationship.

This is why praying for your husband to locate you may not be the right prayer, you should first pray that your life would become an embodiment of the goodness and favour that God spoke about. Pray that the Lord will anoint you with His goodness and make your life that which attracts favour. It couldn’t have been a coincidence that God never told a woman to find a husband, He put something within her that would make it easy for her to be found. So if you’ve not been found, then it means you’ve not activated the goodness and favour that is within you. God may have promised to settle you in marriage, but you have to do His will before He can fulfill His promise, and His will is that you activate the goodness and favour He has put inside of you.

I’ve also heard ladies say things like, “All the men that approach me for a relationship suddenly lose interest after some time”. It should be obvious now, they didn’t meet good, and perhaps were visited with disfavor. So your priority in the place of prayer should be to break the siege of disfavor from your life. You can’t truly carry favour and remain in the singles market for long, men would literally be in a competition for you.

Some other ladies express fear when it comes to making a choice for a life partner; the truth is, no man wants to maltreat a woman that brings goodness and favour into his life, unless ofcourse the woman lacks respect and honour for him. So your worry shouldn’t really be about the man, but about who is deserving of the goodness and favour you will bring. You need to be confident about this, you’re not a burden, you are goodness and favour, and any man will be lucky to marry you. However, you have to stir up that goodness and favour that you have within.

It still amazes me how that some women don’t understand the power they carry. Lurking within you is goodness and favour, you mustn’t keep quiet until you’ve prayed them out to manifestation. If you understand this, the chance of even being attacked by a spirit husband would be slim, and that’s because you’re in alignment with the Word of God. There’s no amount of darkness that can stop light from shining. So stop praying based on your feelings or needs for a husband, pray based on the will of God. The moment you see the manifestation of the will, then the manifestation of the promise is around the corner.

Our labour should not be for the promise, it should be for the will. The promise is automated once the will is completed. Hebrews 10:36 says, “… After you have done the will, you shall receive the promise”. Our prayers should not be for needs, it should be centered around alignment to God’s word, because once we are aligned, we’d also be empowered. And once we are empowered, then what we need will be added to us. No wonder Matthew chapter six admonishes that we should not worry about what we would eat, drink or wear; rather, we should seek first the Kingdom of God… “and all things shall be added unto us”.

Bishop David Oyedepo would often tell us that he doesn’t have any need, and that’s because he’s busy seeking the kingdom. I’ve also tried to think back and realized that I’ve never needed to pray about a need. The need might be there, but it’s never a prayer point. And that’s because I understand that God would add it to me when I complete the will. If God has not added it, then it’s because I’ve not completed the will.

As I conclude, God’s integrity protects those who are praying and acting according to His will. And if that’s the case, an attempt by demons to attack you would be impossible – if you understand what I’ve just shared.
