“Pastor, I’ve always said it that this country has nothing good to offer me, I wish I had travelled when I had the chance”

Oh really? If you’ve always said that, how then do you expect something good from the same country. Perhaps you haven’t realized that the things we say with our mouth can greatly influence how the world treats us. Let me show you a few scriptures:

SCRIPTURE 1:

Deuteronomy 30:
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

This scripture has always scared me, heaven and earth are witnesses to the choices I make. Which means they’d always be in alignment with my choice. If I choose death or a curse, they’re not going to try to give me life. Likewise, if I choose life, they’re not going to try to give me a curse.

So if it seems like you’ve been experiencing disfavor all your life, then it most likely has something to do with your choice. You may be putting in the effort to change the situation, but the situation would not change except you change your choice.

Let me guess, you’re about to ask me how to make or change your choice. The next scripture unveils that to us.

SCRIPTURE 2:

Proverbs 18:
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

That’s right! The choice of life or death, or the choice of blessing or cursing are in the power of the tongue. The power of the tongue is exercised each time you speak a word. Words spoken from the tongue can either bring blessing or bring a curse. Likewise, when we speak, what we spoke can bring either life or death.

This means that you can speak the future you want to see into existence. For each of those times you said this country has nothing good to offer you, you were introducing death and a curse to every possibility of good for you in this country, and that’s why you’ve never seen good.

Our words are powerful, they don’t only affect our lives, but also those whom we use them against. I believe this is why Jesus admonishes us to bless and not curse. He knows that the power of our words would be released as long as we believe what we said.

Mark 11:23 tells us that if we speak to a mountain to move and we believe what we said, that we shall have what we said. It’s why we should not speak when we are angry, because everything we say in anger is definitely from the heart. And you can’t apologize to the angels that you didn’t mean what you said. Do not place a curse on your children, your enemies and even those who have used and oppressed you – just as scripture admonishes. If you do, the devil can use that against you in the court of heaven. And with that, he can secure a ruling in his favour.

Instead, curse situations and circumstances that are programmed by the wicked so that the situations would die or dry up. Jesus spoke words to the fig tree, and by the next day, the fig tree had died. Curse the manipulative system of governance so that they cannot use it to oppress people again. Use the power of your tongue to make life more comfortable for you, not the other way around.
