“Pastor, I’m a young boy, and I don’t want to go through unnecessary struggles in life. Please tell me one thing I must do to prosper”

Seek God! That’s right, your first objective as a young person shouldn’t be how to build a life for yourself, it should be to find God, who in turn will give you a life. It’s quite unfortunate that this generation is producing young people, teenagers especially, who would go any mile to create a life for themselves. Lost and vanity has corrupted the original pattern for creating a life.

I’ve heard all kinds of heartbreaking news amongst young people, ranging from money rituals to cyber crimes, all in the name of living in pleasure. If only they know that that kind of pleasure only lasts for a while, perhaps they’d reconsider their choices.

God bless David, he gave us a blueprint on how to enjoy pleasures forevermore. In Psalm 16:11 he said, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore”. In other words, there are three things that a man who seeks and finds God would enjoy; direction, fullness of joy, and pleasures forever.

I’ve often said that life would have been far better for many of us if we understood certain principles much earlier. Our parents tried their best in teaching us that there is a God in heaven whom we must worship, if only they knew God more, perhaps they would have thought us how to seek and find God.

The challenges in the lives of most adults or young adults is not necessarily because they don’t know God, but because they started seeking God late. Proverbs 8:17 says, “… Those that seek me early shall find me”. It’s true that nothing is impossible with God, but the training that God will subject a teenager to will be different from that which He’d subject an adult who has just found Him. Perhaps he already has 3 children and alot of pressures would be on him to provide for his family. What time would he have to learn the principles of the kingdom? Chances are that he’d be living on God’s mercy for the rest of his life.

But for the young person, God can test his love for Him. God can afford to break him and remould him over and again. God can kill him and raise him again. God can teach him all the principles he needs to learn before he ventures into an assignment – which God would also give to him. Indeed, God will show him the path of life and he’ll enjoy pleasures forever – no matter where he decides to live.

Joseph was young, the bible tells us that until the time that his breakthrough came, God proved him right. Joseph endured hardness, understood the ways of God and practiced them. It wasn’t long before God gave Him a place. It’s really not hard for God to establish a person, but He establishes those He has trained for the job. Otherwise, He’d just give you one breakthrough here and there, but you may not necessarily be in His program.

God has an agenda, and He’s always looking for young people who love Him and can endure training. David endured training in the wilderness, defeated wild beasts to protect his father’s flock. God’s record about David at that time was that David was a man after His heart. In other words, he loved God even in the wilderness. When his training was done, God sent him into the real world and his first encounter was Goliath. A regular worshipper would have been afraid of Goliath, just as all the soldiers of Saul were afraid, but not a man who had been trained by God.

Seeking God early in life helps you overcome the things that men fear later in life. So when you get to that stage, it would become a walk over for you. David defeated Goliath in the name of his God who helped him defeat wild beasts. Many adult believers don’t even know how to introduce God to a situation, they run around looking for who would deliver them, meanwhile God is their very present help in times of trouble.

As I conclude, God has reserved a position for those who love Him, a position that eyes have not seen nor ears heard, a position that has never crossed the thoughts of any man. It was Job who said “as I was in the days of my youth when the secrets of God was upon my tabernacle…”. The secrets of God are always with those who seek and find Him.

So fast often, pray more often, study to know Him as much as you can. The more you know Him, the more you become enligtened. It was Daniel that said “they that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits”. Please know Him! Know Him!! Know Him!!!
