“Pastor, even though I’ve repented and now born again, I feel my sins of the past are hunting me and affecting my results each day. What can I do?”

Simple! Plead the blood of Jesus over your daily endeavors.

Although I’ve recently taught about this, but let me lay more emphasis on the power of the blood of Jesus. I recently realized that many Christians who plead the blood of Jesus over their lives do not really understand the depth behind that mystery.

In 1 John 5:8, the bible says, “And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one”. Which means if God needs to make a judgement or unveil the truth about a matter on earth, there are only three substances that qualifies to be witnesses, and they are the spirit, the blood, and water. These 3 would always say the same thing, and it’s impossible for them to lie.

My focus for this message is the blood, but let me touch a little on the spirit. In 2 Corinthians 2:11, the bible says, “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God”. So it’s possible that a man may be telling a lie yet you’d have no way to prove him wrong because you’d need access to his spirit to do that. This is why when diviners want to find out how a person died, they summon the person’s spirit to reveal it to them. Even if the person lied about the predicament while he was alive, the spirit will always tell the truth because it’s incapable of lying. Now you’d understand why God will rather contact your spirit to testify for or against you.

So the next time you pray to God about a desire, you should know that God isn’t going to honour your request just because you said it with your mouth, He’d honour your request because your spirit is in agreement with what you said. How much of His word did you truly believe in your heart for that desire? Did you hunger and thirst after it with fasting – which is the denial of food for your flesh just so that your spirit can be sensitive enough to receive from God?

God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. The flesh cannot worship God, the bible even calls the flesh an enemy of God. Why would God contact His enemy to testify for or against you? Now you probably understand why you may be experiencing delays in certain areas of your life, your spirit may be dormant and may not be saying what your mouth is saying.

If you understand this, you’d also understand the value of the Holy Spirit here on earth. Nobody can know the secret things of God except the Spirit of God. And now that we have the Spirit of God in us, accessing the deep things of God is easy. Believe me, after Salvation, the Holy Spirit will remain the greatest gift that God gave man.

Speaking of the blood, we understand from scriptures that blood has a voice in the realm of the spirit. That’s right! Blood can speak, especially spilled blood. After Cain murdered his brother Abel, scripture tells us that the blood of Abel cried out to God for vengeance, and God honored the request. We also see several cases in scriptures where the blood of animals were spilled to make atonement for sin or just for worship to God, and God honored each of them. The purpose of the blood would always be fulfilled.

Again, for God to judge, three substances were necessary; the spirit, the blood, and water. Now you’d understand why Jesus had to die, a blood that speaks lasting redemption and atonement had to be shed to redeem God’s creation, without the speaking of that blood from earth, redeeming the world from sin and Satan would have been a struggle.

That’s how God created the earth, there had to be a blood witness. Hebrews 9:12 says, “He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption”.

His blood became the stronghold for believers to break through all forms of limitations. Although our sins should incure God’s wrath, we should experience demonic interference every single day, but because of our consciousness of the speakings of the blood of Jesus, we have unhindered access to the blessings of God. I may not deserve this great sacrifice, but that’s what God did for me.

So the next time you want to step out of your house, plead the blood of Jesus over your going out and coming out. And when you are about to go to bed at night, plead the blood of Jesus over your life. When your children are about to go to school, plead the blood of Jesus over their lives. When you’re about to start a project, plead the blood of Jesus over it. No matter what any demon or blood is speaking against you, the blood of Jesus is a superior blood, and it speaks better things.

When you’re about to enter a church service, plead the blood of Jesus so that the word can have a free cause in your life. Even as you read this, I plead the blood of Jesus over you so that you’d find value for this message. Since I understood this mystery, I’ve not ceased to plead the blood of Jesus.

As I conclude, asides the blood of Jesus that gives us unhindered access to the blessings of the kingdom, God also gave us The Spirit and His Word for victory. It can’t be a coincidence that the Word was also referred to as water in scriptures. The equation is balanced. The Spirit of God bears witness with your spirit, the blood of Jesus maintains your connection with God, The Word (water) builds you and gives you an inheritance in the kingdom.
