“Pastor, I’ve been waiting patiently for years now, but it seems what God promised me isn’t forth coming. What do I do?”

First you have to understand that “Patience” and “Waiting” don’t mean the same thing in this kingdom. Just because God says you have need of patience doesn’t mean you should sit down and wait idly until He shows up for you. Let me show you a scripture:

Hebrews 10:
35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

So verse 35 unveils that faith will always be compensated with a reward. In other words, don’t give up on what you’re believing God for until you’ve received it or at least you’ve received a compensation for it. What I mean is, if you were trusting God for a life partner, He can either choose to answer you by giving you one directly or send you to a place where you’d meet your life partner. If you needed to travel abroad, God may do a direct processing or send you to work with an organization that has branches abroad. Either way, you’d travel.

Speaking of compensation, many believers do not understand this compensation system of faith. You may be having faith in God for healing from an asthmatic condition, and instead of healing you supernaturally, you receive an inspiration to inhale onion gas for some days. I perceive that this compensation system of faith is God’s way of sustaining or meeting our needs whenever our faith for what we actually desired isn’t sufficient.

So instead of complaining or thinking that your faith didn’t work, look out for a sudden move around you and follow through, that may be God’s compensation or reward for the faith you expressed. You may have prayed for a business, but He gave you a job with a business tycoon. He knows that if you submit to mentorship with the business tycoon, your faith will be built enough to start your own business. God is all wise!

Clearly, managing the reward or compensation would require some level of patience. But the question is, how long do you have to manage the compensation before the real deal actually comes? Verse 36 makes it clear, it says “after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise”.

So the reason why you need patience is because you have to complete the will of God. You cannot receive the promise or the real deal if you don’t complete the will of God for you.

An example would be how God sent Moses to Pharaoh for the freedom of the people of Israel. Although Moses thought it would be a simple one time task, but after few attempts to convict Pharaoh, God revealed to Moses that He was responsible for the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart, and that the reason why He was doing that was because His will had to be established. Let’s see how scriptures put it:

Exodus 10:
1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
2 And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.

Did you see that? God hardened Pharaoh’s heart to resist Moses’ demand because He wanted Moses to have enough stories to tell his sons and his son’s son. For this reason, Moses had to be patient. Ofcourse Moses’ desire to free Isreal would still happen, but at that moment, Moses had to be patient until God’s will was completed.

So if you suddenly got fired from a high paying job and immediately got an offer to work with a lesser salary, don’t be too quick to reject it or complain, observe the situation, especially if you’ve been having faith for something. The moment you begin to trust God for something, you have to become more sensitive to the events that unfolds.

I’ve shared over and again how I was trusting God for a business or at least a job in 2017, I fasted for 21 days in January for this. And while you’d think that God would just give me a breakthrough, He asked me to do many “ridiculous” things until I finally got a job in the month of May. Even the job I got offered to pay way lower than my portfolio demanded, but He still told me to take the job. The very day I resumed, I got another offer that was going to triple my salary, but God told me not to move from the low salary job. Long story short, a few years later, everything I asked God for during the 21 days fasting and prayer had come to pass. The job was part of God’s compensation plan to give me what I actually wanted. But I had to be patient – doing His will in that organization. Speaking of doing His will, I went out weekly to reach out to the unsaved souls around my office, it wasn’t long before a fellowship was established where we could worship the Lord and grow in His word within the same organization.

I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
