“Pastor, please pray for me. I am always working hard but I don’t understand why I keep getting small financial returns”

To be frank, I’ve been in your shoes before. I remember how I met with one of my pastors and lamented before him. I had authored many books, I had great followership online, people were getting testimonies from my contents. I wasn’t really different from what you’d call a famous person. Yet, it wasn’t showing in my finances. I was really troubled.

Although that pastor did his best to encourage me, but I soon realized that the subject of financial prosperity in the kingdom is a different syllabus compared to the possibilities that our purpose and callings provides. Bishop David Oyedepo shared a story how that he had been teaching his congregation the principles of financial prosperity for many years, yet he couldn’t boast of being prosperous financially. So he went on a 3-day retreat to discover the secret to financial prosperity. It was during that retreat that God revealed to him that His prosperity plan wasn’t a promise, neither does it answer to prayer and fasting. It’s a covenant, and until our part is played, God is not committed.

Right after that encounter, He screamed that he would never be poor. He came back with clear wisdom on what to do to prosper financially. This was a man who had done many great things for the kingdom, yet money was going to make mockery of him.

The moment I heard Bishop David Oyedepo share this story, I immediately understood that although my gifts and diligence will bring me before Kings, but just because I associate with Kings doesn’t automatically mean I’d have money. I had to journey with God in search of wisdom for financial prosperity. And God so good, I found it.

Today, I can write books and give them out for free because I understand that the subject of purpose and money have different syllabuses. Your diligence in pursuing your purpose will bring you before kings, but if you want to get money out of kings, then you have to understand the covenant of financial prosperity.

One of the things that practicing the covenant does is that it gives you power to get wealth, or simply put, it gives you favour. Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day”. When this power to get wealth comes upon you, you’d do a small job and get a big pay for it.

If you work so hard and get so little return, then this may be the explanation. I’ve given out bills that appeared outrageous in my eyes, but to my amazement, the clients were happy to pay it and even more. Practicing the covenant is powerful! It will bring you to a state where every input you make is greatly rewarded. Covenant people don’t only get paid for their work, they also get rewarded. So what you’d get for every job is a pay plus a reward.

Now that we’ve cleared what practicing the covenant can do, it is clear from that scripture that God will only release power to get wealth upon those who establish His covenant. This covenant was clearly stated in Genesis 8:22. It says, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”. That’s the covenant right there! Don’t expect to harvest where you’ve not sown.

When I learnt this, I became more deliberate about my giving life. And today, I’ve continued to enjoy increase from glory to glory. Serving my purpose in the kingdom has become easier because I practice the principles of financial prosperity.

As I conclude, pastors who depend on seeds, tithe and offering may struggle in ministry. If you want to succeed in any ministerial assignment, then you must seperately pass the exam of kingdom financial prosperity. If you don’t know how to give bountifully, you may have a huge crowd in your church, but the total offering in a year may not even purchase a microphone. If you want to enjoy financial favour in your ministry, then be committed to giving.

I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.

Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
