“Pastor, I’ve been feeling a strange tightness in my chest and neck area for some years now, yet medical practitioners say there’s nothing wrong with my health. Please pray for me”

Oh wow! Sorry about the situation. If medical experts are saying nothing is medically wrong, then it means they must have done a holistic check on vital organs within your body. I also perceive that you think your situation can be likened to the story of that woman with the issue of blood the bible spoke about; you’ve done all you can, yet no positive change.

So I understand your need for prayer or a miracle. However, you may be missing a very vital piece in that equation, the woman’s medical condition was known, it’s just that they couldn’t heal her. In your case, medical reports show that nothing is wrong with you.

This leaves us with 3 possible causes; a demonic attack, an allergic reaction, or a digestive disorder that allows stomach acid and food to move back up from the stomach into the esophagus, thus causing tightness in the throat or chest. The third one can lead to ulcer if not detected and managed well.

When you swallow food, a circular band of muscle around the bottom of your esophagus called “sphincter” – relaxes to allow food and liquid to flow into your stomach. Once that process is done, the sphincter closes again. When you feel a burn in any area above your stomach, an acid reflux has taken place. Which means stomach acid successfully flowed back through the sphincter (I hope I’m not wrong😂).

What I mean is, if the sphincter does not relax as it should or it weakens, stomach acid can flow back into your esophagus. This constant backwash of acid irritates the lining of your esophagus, often causing it to become inflamed. There are quite a number of things that can aggravate acid reflux; smoking, eating large meals or eating late at night, eating certain foods such as fatty or fried foods, drinking certain beverages such as alcohol or coffee, taking certain pain killers.

I’m not trying to scare you, I’m just trying to exhaust all my options. If you’ve thought about this and realized that this may just be the problem, then you may not need prayers after all, just get a 7-day ulcer kit, then ensure you stay clear anything that aggravates acid reflux. You’d be just fine! Oh and yes, the chances of detecting this condition through a scan is very slim.

Speaking of allergies, till today allergy blood tests only give sixty percent result, which means a test for allergies can be positive-negative. With that kind of result, you won’t be able to tell the severity of an allergic condition within your body. If that’s true, then you may need to observe the things you eat and drink. Observe how they make you feel after taking them. Ofcourse there are anti-allergy drugs that you can take before or after meal to control reactions, but it’s better to know what your body reacts to. Observe how you feel after you expose your body to extreme cold. If you feel fluid flowing through your throat, then it’s either an acid reflux or a reaction from extreme cold.

Unlike the effect of an acid reflux that may keep escalating until it’s treated, allergic reactions only last for a few days, except in extreme cases where the reaction triggers another ailment. An extreme case emerges only when you persistently take in the things that trigger the allergic reaction. This means that it’s easier to tell when you’re allergic to something. It’s also easy to tell when a meal aggravates acid reflux, but you have to be sensitive to it.

Having said all of that, a demonic attack would need divine intervention, especially because unlike ailments that can be managed, oppressions by the devil cannot be medically managed. You will feel the pain when he wants you to feel the pain, whether you manage the condition well or not.

I had to take time to explain all of that because I’m certain that I’m not the first person you’ve contacted for prayers about this situation. I also have no doubt that you’ve engaged in series of prayer and fasting programs for your healing. But now that you also know that it may not be a demonic attack, receiving your miracle may become far easier. As much as managing it is a possibility, Jesus took our infirmities and nailed them to the cross. If He wanted us to manage our infirmities, He would have left them with us. But He took them so that we won’t have anything to do with them.
