“Pastor, my mother put a mark on my face because I was always falling sick as a child. Now my fiancé’s mother has refused to let her son marry me because of that mark. Even though I’ve told her it’s nothing, she insists that it is demonic and that I should go for deliverance first. What do I do?”

Oh wow! I understand how emotional this can be for you. I can also imagine that your fiancé has stopped pushing for the marriage since he received that information from his mother. So right now, you’re probably the only one worried and hoping that both your fiancé and his mum would change their mind.

To be honest, it would take only God to change their mind, especially if the woman got that information by revelation. Your fiancé on the other hand would be scared, not because he doesn’t love you, but because he is not spiritual enough to journey into the unknown with you. No matter how much he loves you, the fear that is currently in his heart will not allow him continue with the marriage plans – even after it is clear that you’ve been delivered.

Even if his mother eventually approves it, his lack of spiritual maturity will still resist the move. If he continues the plan because of his mother, then be ready to enter a marriage where you’d be blamed for everything that goes wrong. You may insist that you are free, but if he doesn’t agree, then your marriage may be hell. Two can never work together except they agree. So beyond convincing your fiancé’s mum, your fiancé himself has some maturing to do spiritually.

About the mark, you can’t keep saying it’s nothing. As long as there’s no scriptural principle that permits one to be physically marked to receive healing, then whoever gave you that mark must have engaged a power that is not within the permissible scope of our kingdom’s operation. And if that’s the case, then you should know that it’s only in the kingdom of God that things are giving for free. If your healing was outsourced, then there must have been a price. And by price, I mean blood.

Now that you are in Christ, you have to consciously seperate yourself from that blood covenant using the blood of Jesus. Present your petition to God with scriptural intelligence, then address that covenant with the convictions that you have. Believe me, if the mark was nothing, your fiancé’s mum won’t have a revelation about it. Dreams and revelations are mediums through which the Holy Spirit communicates truth to us. So the fact that it was revealed to her means it should be taken seriously.

Once you’ve seperated yourself from that covenant by the blood of Jesus, then the effect of that mark can no longer be your portion. This also means that nobody can have dreams or revelations about the mark again.

So, asides your fiancé needing to mature, you may also need to go on a retreat for at least 3 days. Fast, search the scriptures so that you can understand what redemption has made you in Christ. Appropriate your discoveries in prayer, and you’d be free. Deliverance doesn’t necessarily require that you hire a professional pastor to pray for you, it just requires that you understand who you are in Christ and walk in it by faith.

Bishop David Oyedepo said he read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John after he got saved, and he was delivered from tuberculosis. He encountered deep revelations as he read those books, they were so deep that he demanded his freedom from that infirmity. That’s how you deliver yourself from the hold of Satan. You can’t just say “it’s nothing”. Anything in your life that wasn’t planted by God is something worthy of attention. Don’t assume anything, deal with them before they become an issue, just like this one has become an issue.

As I conclude, I wouldn’t advice you to continue your marriage plans with your fiancé, and that’s because he’s not spiritually mature. As I remarked earlier, if he’s compelled to continue with the marriage, he’d blame every challenge you both go through in the marriage on you. And believe me, that’s not something you can handle.
