“Pastor, I missed a business call in the night, and by the time I called back in the morning, the business had been given to someone else. Why do I keep missing opportunities like that?”

I know you probably want to think it’s a demonic thing, but it may just be a lack of scriptural discipline. That’s right! The reason why some people are in certain challenges is because they are not scriptured enough.

For instance, it’s common knowledge that wealthy people run a busy schedule – which makes them work through the night and into the early hours of the day. So imagine that I was developing strategies for an idea I want to implement and I suddenly needed the service of a lawyer who would draft a letter for me around 2am so that I can present it by 8am. If my lawyer isn’t available at that time, I’d look for any lawyer that would be available. My lawyer’s unavailability at that time isn’t going to hinder my progress. That’s how most wealthy people run their life.

The people of the world understand this and that’s why they’ve developed a twenty four hour service system. That’s right! They don’t have closing hours. They may close their physical offices for manpower or security reasons, but their lines would remain open for 24 hours. This is to ensure they don’t miss any opportunity.

Amazingly, this very principle is clearly spelt out in scriptures. Let me show you a few scriptures;

SCRIPTURE 1:

Isaiah 60:
11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

Did you see that? If you want to deal with kings, then your gates should continually be opened, it mustn’t be shut day nor night. And that’s because God has commanded men to bring the wealth of the Gentiles to you.

I remember a public figure I wrote a book for, our meetings for reviews was always in the night. The only time he could meet with me was from 10pm, and in his office. Sometimes I’d be there till past 12 midnight – not considering how I’d go home. I mean, if the man was still in the office, then what’s my problem?

SCRIPTURE 2:

Ecclesiastes 11:
6 In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.

Don’t withhold your hand in the evening. Don’t say you’ve closed for the day. Dr Isaiah MacWealth shared an experience just last Sunday on how he wanted someone to come do a job for him in his house. The first person he called said it was too late and that he should wait till the next day. According to him, he didn’t hesitate to call another person. Although the second person doubled the fee, but he went there, started the job around 2am and concluded around 6am or so.

Just as you put in all the efforts to make profit during the day, plan not to miss out on opportunities during the night. Keep your phone next to you if possible. Your body may go to sleep, but that doesn’t mean you closed your gates. You don’t know which one will bring the returns you seek, whether the one you invested in the morning or the one you invested in the evening. Don’t withhold your hand in the evening!

SCRIPTURE 3:

Romans 8:
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

That’s right! All things work together for good. It also means that all times work together for our good. Night and day works together for my good. Just as I expect good during the day, I also expect good during the night. Even when I sleep, I sleep like someone who’s expecting a call of favour. Gone are the days when we open by 8am and close by 5pm, now we run 24/7.

Be security conscious though, know what your environment permits and what it doesn’t. If you get a call at night for a job you can do from your home, please don’t push it till morning, you may lose that opportunity. However, if the job would require that you leave your home at that hour of the night, then ensure you don’t neglect the security condition of the nation or environment you live in.
