“Pastor, please teach me how you keep getting new and deep revelations from God’s word”
Oh wow! That’s a serious question. But sure, I’d be glad to share a few scriptural tips with you.
SCRIPTURE 1:
1 Corinthians 8:
1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 And if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
So one of the first things you need to do to encounter new and deeper revelations is to admit that you know nothing yet. When it comes to God’s word, the interpretation you got to a scripture yesterday may change today. Not necessarily because the former revelation no longer works, but because every word of God has deeper meanings to it. It would therefore be pride to settle with the first revelation you had from a scripture.
Just because you’ve read and understood a scripture doesn’t mean you’ve known all there is to know about that scripture. The scripture may be simple, yet have thousands of revelatory interpretation.
According to verse 1, knowledge can make a person full of himself. I’ve heard preachers who preach and take pride in their revelation from certain scriptures. They preach it as though no other revelation can come out of that scripture. An attitude like that will deprive you from getting more revelation. What you know is in bits, you need to maintain the spirit of a babe or a learner who is open for more to get more.
SCRIPTURE 2:
Matthew 11:
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Did you see that? God hides things from those who think they are wise and accurate in knowledge, yet gives more revelation to babies – people who are open to anything. Babies always want to know why a thing is the way it is. The third scripture would help you understand this better.
SCRIPTURE 3:
Exodus 3:
2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
Did you see that? The moment Moses turned to see why the bush wasn’t burning, God called him. Everytime you enquire about a matter from the Spirit of God, He reveals the solution to you through scriptures. Unfortunately, many people don’t ask for revelation, they just act on what they know already. That’s why they hardly get new revelation. And that’s also why they find it difficult to solve certain problems.
For instance, I’ve responded to a question similar to this before, yet if you read both responses, the answers are not the same. The fact that someone asked again simply means that I have not exhausted God’s view on this subject matter. If someone should ask me this question again, then it means I still have to enquire from God the more. I could have easily reposted my previous response, but that would be pride. That’s right! Pride isn’t just when you make boasts of yourself, pride is also when you use old knowledge to solve problems that require new revelations. You didn’t give God the opportunity to reveal Himself in a new dimension.
So in conclusion, maintain an inquisitive spirit at all time. Always seek to know more from what you think you already know. Personally, I’ve gotten some new revelations to matters I thought I had the best revelation for. You’d always think what you know is the best if you don’t humble yourself. What you know may still work, but the result may not be as fast as what the new revelations would bring.
