“Pastor, I find it difficult to invite people to my church. I fear I may be losing my passion for soul winning. What can I do to be revived?”

Soul winning is a result of one’s personal revival or convictions about Jesus. If your soul isn’t revived, it will be difficult for you to introduce revival to another person. Remember that it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. When your heart is full of God, you will definitely open your mouth to win souls or at least invite people to church.

The moment soul winning or inviting people to church becomes a burden or something you’re reminded or compelled to do, then it means there’s a problem with your personal convictions about God or about the church you attend. Personally, if I’m not getting enough value in my church, chances are that I won’t invite anybody to worship with me there. I may endure because of the relationship or prophetic covering I have in the church, but it would be difficult to bring another person to endure with me.

Speaking of prophetic covering, a church should provide both prophetic covering for members and mentorship towards having a better relationship with God. Unfortunately, most church goers only enjoy the prophetic covering on their man of God and live in fear because they are not mature. It takes a personal walk with God to mature.

Prophetic coverings are real and they can deliver or exempt a person from familia or ancestral curses and challenges. I’ve heard testimonies of several people on how they left their primary place of worship to a more convenient place only to return few years later in a dilapidated state. Their testimony is that as soon as they returned to their primary church, things began to work again in their life. I’ve also seen many others who enjoy and attain heights that people in their family have never attained. Some say they are the first to be a graduate in their family, some say they are the first to get married in their family, some say they are the first to live above a certain age – because people in their family die before that age.

If you sit down to have a conversation with these people, you’d be amazed to find out that many of them are not even spiritually mature. Their exemption is clearly because of the grace of the church family they belong to. Apostle Paul also referred to this principle when he spoke about Christ being the Rock. Let’s read from scriptures:

1 Corinthians 10:
1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Did you notice verse 2? They were all baptized unto Moses, which literally meant that God looked at them through the lens of Moses. If God protected Moses, then that protection covered for all of them. Verse 3 and 4 further tells us that they ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink. Isn’t this amazing?

God Himself validated this truth when He got angry with the children of Israel. Let’s see how scriptures put it:

Numbers 16:
20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying
21 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?

Did you see that? God told Moses and Aaron to seperate themselves from the people so that He could punish them. As long as they were together, He couldn’t punish them. Punishing them would mean punishing Moses. That’s how powerful prophetic coverings are. If you go to a church where the grace on the man of God is lower than the authorities that operate in your father’s house, chances are that you’d be greatly challenged or that you’d have to develop yourself through other channels to gain the authority needed to overcome the principalities in your family.

Speaking of developing authority, that’s actually the second thing the church should bring to members. A church should mentor members to have personal relationship with God which would in turn reveal their true potentials and authority in Christ. The way the children of Isreal enjoyed prophetic covering through Moses is the same way Christians should enjoy covering through Jesus. But a Christian who isn’t matured enough will not be able to tap into that possibility. Unfortunately, Christians are largely immature.

It’s okay to see your man of God in your dream delivering you from trouble, but that also means that you’ve not developed yourself enough to overcome your own challenges. I used to see my pastor in my dreams too, but it’s been a long while since I did. When I dream now, I see myself fully armored dealing with oppositions, and I always come out victorious. In fact, people now see me in their dreams😂.

So, when you don’t feel like inviting people to your church, it’s most likely because you don’t feel blessed enough to invite someone else. Believe me, if the teachings from your pastor really impacts you, you won’t even know when you’d begin to speak to people about coming to church. Read your Bible, we’re told that almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of God, yet there was no special announcement for evangelism during the previous meeting. Ask the Samaritan woman that Jesus met at the well, Jesus never told her to invite people to listen to him, yet she became a town crier after Jesus ministered to her. Impact naturally breaks silence. Personally, I’ve seen myself tell people to follow certain preachers even without a second thought.

As I conclude, just because I’m part of a church that has a strong prophetic covering doesn’t mean I only feed from that church. No way! I’m a product of diverse graces. I may enjoy the covering from my church, but if I notice that I’m deficient in my personal walk with God, I won’t hesitate to find a spiritual mentor in that area. Ofcourse I won’t leave my church because of the covering, but I’d go all out in developing my walk with God. I’d invite people to my church because of the covering, but I won’t hesitate to also connect them to the other preachers I follow. Actually, that’s what the body of Christ should be like.
