“Pastor, I work so hard yet my income is still low. What then is the advantage of being a Christian?”
In this world, there’s basically four major steps through which a person multiplies income. Let me show you four of them:
– VISION
This speaks of the direction you want to go in life or your dreams. Any man who doesn’t know what he wants to become in life may struggle to multiply his income in this world. You ought to have a dream or a desire to become something.
Perhaps it’s your dream or desire to become a multimillionaire, or a sought after medical doctor, or a critically acclaimed writer, or even a multiple award winning artist. My point is, if you want a good income, the journey begins with a vision of who you’d like to be.
– PASSION
This speaks of the diligence or hard work you put into pursuing your vision or dreams. If you desire to be a real estate mogul, then you must be ready to sacrifice time and money to learn what it takes. Actually, there’s nothing you’d want to become that won’t require the sacrifice of time and money.
So when I tell you that my sleep time is short because I wake up in the night to read, you should understand that I’m pursuing my dreams of adding value to the lives of people. I’d know how passionate you are about your dreams or visions by how much you sacrifice in pursuing them. When Bishop David Oyedepo said he sleeps for only 3 hours, it’s not necessarily because he enjoys it, but because without sacrifice, your dreams may never be actualized.
People have mistaken passion to mean that inexplicable emotion that drives you into achieving results. Well, that’s partly defined, because emotions only start the journey, you’d then need the more deliberate part of passion to continue. Passion involves both an emotional drive and sacrifice. So when the emotional drive stops, you have to engage sacrifice to continue. This also means that just because you no longer feel that emotional drive doesn’t mean you’re no longer passionate, no! It just means you now have to engage sacrifice to continue. Either way, it’s still called passion.
So, educate yourself in the area of your dream. Offer free services where you need to, just so you can gain more experience. Become an apprentice to a mentor where necessary. Burn the night candles even if it’s your last penny. Doing nothing or waiting till things are convenient to pursue your dreams won’t get you anywhere.
– PROVISIONS FOR PROFIT
It is commonly said that in every vision there’s provision. That’s very correct. Once you begin to passionately pursue your vision, potentials or provision for profit will be revealed. For instance, I’m a System Engineer by profession, but it was as I continued to develop myself in the knowledge of God’s word that I became a critically acclaimed inspirational writer. Today, I’ve authored over sixty books. Asides that, people see me as a content influencer. There are many other potentials that has been revealed, which have now been converted to streams of income.
But remember, these potentials or provisions for profit can only be unveiled by your passionate pursuit of your vision. If your provisions are small, then it means you need to be more passionate, especially in the area of learning more about your desires or vision.
– MULTIPLICATION OF INCOME
This is where you intelligently invest those potentials or provisions to make more profit. Today, I can easily host an inspirational writers mentorship course, and people will gladly pay for it. If you can think well, then you can multiply your income with the provisions you have.
As I conclude, you must understand that the four stages I mentioned also apply to Christians, except that a Christian’s vision must be channeled towards his purpose in Christ. This means that once you receive salvation, the next thing you should find is your purpose in Christ. What does God want you to do? If you don’t know this, attempting to multiply your income with the four principles I shared may frustrate you. Of course God wants us to be rich, but it has to be according to His purpose. He’s comfortable with you being a Real Estate Professional, but that status has to be fulfilling His purpose.
I gave my life to Christ in 2010, but I struggled with my career until I finally understood God’s purpose for me in 2015. I remember resigning from my job that year to attend a bible school, and all I was praying for during my time in that school was that God Should reveal what He wanted me to do. As soon as God revealed it, everything I did began to make sense, and that’s because I was now working in alignment to purpose.
Surprisingly, I’m still in the same field I was that got me frustrated, the difference is just that I now work according to purpose. This means that the struggle wasn’t really about the type of business or work I did, but that I hadn’t found my purpose in Christ. That may be a word for you, the struggle you’re going through may not be about the kind of business you do, it may just be that you haven’t found purpose. God isn’t interested in anything that doesn’t involve His Kingdom.
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
