“Pastor, I heard that imaginations are powerful, but despite my positive imaginations about my life, nothing seems to be working. What can I do?”
Ofcourse, imaginations are powerful. People who know how to use their imagination well are often termed “Creative” or “Resourceful”. They imagine things that could be done that hasn’t been done yet. Once it works in their mind, they’d start working on how to physically produce what they’ve imagined. Actually, every great invention you’ve ever seen or heard of is a product of great imaginations.
The imaginative faculty is a department or faculty of the mind where mental images are formed or created. It’s the only place where things that have never been seen or conceived are formed first. The interesting thing is, the imaginative faculty has always been in use – since the beginning of time. Think of the Tower of Babel, God Himself testified that nothing could stop them from doing what they had imagined. Let’s see how scripture puts it:
Genesis 11:
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Look at that; they conceived it, and were already building it. If God didn’t stop them, that Tower would have reached the heavens. Today, there are nations where you’d hardly find skyscrapers or high-rise buildings simply because of the fear of heights, yet a group of people built a tower that was going to reach the heavens – over 4000 years ago. Let’s think about this for a moment, if God had permitted that building, the only structure that would be in this world today would probably be that tower. As impossible as this may sound, any tower that would reach heaven would contain everybody in this world. As far back as that time, they already had a system that sustains their life no matter what height they get to. Imagination is powerful!
Having said that, the imaginative faculty works better with a diligent hand. As they imagined to build the tower, they started building. God wouldn’t have come down if they were not building what they imagined. Imagination without diligence isn’t a threat to anybody. Let me show you a simple formular in scriptures:
Genesis 13:
14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
So you see how God promised Abraham that He’d give him possessions only as far as his eyes could see. Many believers have settled with that scripture without reading verse 17; after seeing the lands, walk through the land in the length and breadth of it. That’s right, after imagining the great things you can do, then begin to diligently implement them little by little. The fact that you imagined it means that God has released it to you, but if you don’t diligently work on it, you won’t see the manifestation.
Perhaps you didn’t know this, but whenever God says He’d give you something or He has given you something, it’s always a statement accomplished in your spirit-man, not your physical man. You’d still need to diligently pursue what was said or seen until it manifests physically. Read your Bible, God told the Isrealites that He had given them Sihon, yet He told them to contend with them in battle before they could possess the land. Don’t mistake spiritual possessions for physical possessions. Every possession that God promises or releases to us are spirit-based, you’d need diligence to convert them to a spendable currency in this world.
So work on your imaginations, that’s what you should do. Don’t sit on your bed hoping that some day your imaginations will come to pass, it won’t, at least not without the required diligence.
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
