“Pastor, I feel like there’s a strong hindrance on my life. Every time I attempt to do something progressive, I always get dissapointed, even if it’s something God told me to do”

You honestly don’t need to “feel” that there’s an hindrance, you should know that there are hindrances, Apostle Paul already gave us a hint in 1 Corinthians 16:9. He said, “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries”. This means that you should expect the operation of adversaries or hindrances every time an opportunity is opened unto you.

Don’t be deceived, just because your colleagues enjoy breakthroughs as though they don’t have adversaries doesn’t mean there are no adversaries. Every attack of the adversary is merely a question on your faith. They’re simply asking the question, “Who are you?”. The response they get will determine if you’d go through that door of opportunity or not. Recall when the sons of Sceva tried to cast out demons in the name of Jesus, the demon literally asked them who they were. Let’s see how scriptures put it:

Acts 19:
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

Just look at that! The sons of Sceva tried to do the things that Apostle Paul did, but it backfired because they had no approved authority to do so. That’s how many believers miss opportunities, they’re not able to give an authoritative response to adversaries.

Just because the head of your department vowed not to sign your promotion letter doesn’t mean you can’t get your promotion. His hindrance is only a question of identity that needs an answer. If you answer correctly, your promotion would be signed at whatever cost. I remember a testimony shared by a brother who his boss hated so much. Because of this, he refused to sign his appraisal letter. This brother took the matter to God and what happened next would amaze you. The boss was transfered to another branch, and this brother was now put in the position the boss left.

The consciousness of your superiority would always give you victory over adversaries. A dissapointment is not a disapproval. It may appear as though there’s nothing else you can do, but you must understand that you serve a God who specializes in impossible cases. There is nothing too hard for Him. The moment you sense a hindrance or an adversary, don’t back down, it’s a question you have to answer. Who are you?

It’s a beautiful thing to understand and walk in the spiritual authority that we have in Christ. I’d like to grow to a point where even devils acknowledge that I cannot be hindered, just as they acknowledged Jesus and Apostle Paul. But just because we’re still growing doesn’t mean adversaries can continue hindering our progress. No way! We can always leverage on prophetic covering.

We read how Elijah pathed the Jordan River so that he and Elisha could pass through. Yet we’re told that when Elisha was returning, the Jordan River had closed the path. Knowing that he didn’t have authority of his own, he wisely leveraged on the authority of Elijah. That’s when he struck the river calling on the God of Elijah.

Just like Apostle Paul, there are many names that demons respect in this world. Think of Bishop David Oyedepo; I’ve heard several testimonies of how people got deliverance just by calling on the God of Bishop David Oyedepo. I remember a church member who tried to raise his dead brother by using the name of Jesus, and it didn’t work, clearly because he had not understood the power in that name. But the moment he said “The God who Bishop David Oyedepo serves commands you to wake up”, his brother jerked back to life immediately.

Personally, I don’t joke with prophetic covering. I know my limits, so I don’t let my limits define my possibilities. The moment I sense an hindrance stronger than my spiritual authority, I simply engage the authority of my spiritual father.

If you don’t have a prophetic covering over your life, then you’re clearly missing alot. The adversaries that won’t respect your authority should respect someone you honour. If they won’t let you pass because of you, they should let you pass because of the person you honour.

Woe unto him whose prophetic covering doesn’t have authority in the realm of the spirit, life may remain a struggle. This is why nobody should go to church because of sentiments, but because of destiny. Choosing a church is as important as choosing a life partner, it would go a long way in determining the possibilities available to you. Pray to God tirelessly until He reveals the church you should be part of. If He reveals it, then it means He’d cover you from there.
