“Pastor, ever since I started reading your articles, the bad things that used to happen to me has stopped happening. What could have happened?”
It’s not just about me, it’s a mystery of the kingdom. Every man is a candidate of destruction and suffering until an interpreter shows up with a superior knowledge or at least till he can gain access to a superior knowledge. The moment an interpreter shows up, the destruction and suffering would be suspended. Suffering would only return to the life of that man if he doesn’t accept the message of the interpreter. Let me show you a scripture that would help you understand.
Job 33:
22 Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness.
24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth.
Recall the story of Job’s misfortune, he believed that it was God who was punishing him without cause. His understanding was flawed, and as long as he had that understanding, his suffering continued.
Seeing that it was obvious that his life was drawing near to the grave, Elihu knew that the situation could still be savaged if Job had an interpreter with him, a messenger of God who had a superior knowledge of the character of God. According to verse 24, interpreters are like a ransom in the hand of God, He can use them to deliver people from destruction. Verse 25 further establishes that the man will be restored to be even better than he was before he became challenged, all because an interpreter came into the scene to deliver knowledge.
Interpreters are powerful. Amazingly, that’s one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit. He interprets scriptures to us. But how many believers will humble themselves to study and get interpretation from the Holy Spirit?
Now you’d understand Hosea 4:6, God’s people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge. It’s not only sinners that get destroyed, Christians get destroyed too, because of their ignorance of the truth.
The story of the Ethiopian Eunuch and Phillip will make this clearer. The Eunuch was reading a passage of the scripture he didn’t understand, but as soon as Philip gave him the interpretation, he became a better and happier person. Let’s see how scriptures put it:
Acts 8:
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
Many believers are arrogant and prideful, they won’t take out time to study and see what they don’t know, so they continue to walk in pride that was generated by their ignorance of the real truth.
Our lives would really become better if we follow people who are accredited by God to teach His word. Personally, I’m a beneficiary of this mystery.
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
