“Pastor, after fasting and praying last month, what else should I do as I expect the answer to my prayer?”
Well, it depends on the content of the prayer. However, there’s one characteristic that everyone who has prayed in faith must have, REST! That’s right, after you’ve prayed in faith, you should rest assured that God will come through for you.
Hebrews 4:3 unveils this truth. It says, “For we who have believed do enter into that rest…”. In other words, you can be rest assured if it is God you believe in.
I checked the meaning of “rest assured” in the dictionary and I realized that you only use that phrase to express your determination to do something. So if God is telling you to be rest assured, then it means He’s determined to do what you believed Him for. No wonder Abraham did not stagger at the promise of God, we were told that he was strong in faith even given glory to God.
Perhaps you’re long overdue for marriage and it’s looking like God’s promise of marriage to you is getting late, be rest assured. It was actually late for Abraham and Sarah, but God still came through for them. It was late for Lazarus, but God came through for him. Whether God comes late or early, He makes all things beautiful in His time. According to Ezekiel, those bones were very dry, but God came through for him, and bones became a great army.
So it’s not really about how long you have to wait, but giving glory to Him because you are rest assured that He will eventually come through for you. Martha expressed her grievances that if only Jesus had come much earlier, Lazarus would not have died. She didn’t understand that whether late or early, Jesus would come through. From experience, the testimony is even louder when it comes late – after everyone has mocked you and even given up on you.
So they may have denied you Visa a few times, and all your hopes seem to have crashed, but if God had promised to take you abroad, then be rest assured. Be like Abraham, keep giving glory to God with joy in your heart; because even after menopause, Sarah still brought forth her Isaac. That’s right! Even after they shut down Visa applications for the US and UK, you’d still get a Visa. Even after admission has closed and school session has resumed, you’d still get admission to join the on-going session. Just because nature stopped doesn’t mean God will stop; nature cannot stop God.
Just so I don’t assume anything, praying in faith isn’t an emotional prayer, it is praying according to the will of God. Yesterday I told you that God would only do things for us according to His purpose, not our purpose. Just because you have a need doesn’t mean that God will meet it. Your need has to align with His purpose or will before it can be met.
Praying in faith simply means exalting God’s word or God’s will above your needs. When we pray in faith, we don’t exactly pray for needs, we pray for His will that meets the need. After you’ve prayed in faith, rest!
Once a child tells his father about his school fees, he’s rest assured that his father will provide. He doesn’t even need to ask a second time. It’s in the will and responsibility of the father to provide education for him, so his request is not out of place.
That’s how we should relate with our God. Don’t assume it is God’s responsibility to give you a wife or a husband, find out from scriptures. Once you find it, then you can ask in faith. Once you’ve asked, be rest assured.
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
