MAY GOD GIVE YOU HELPERS…

While it is true that God is our Helper, we must understand that we live in a world of men, and it would be far easier for God to help you through a man than through anything else.

It’s not always an easy task to route help through any medium that is not man. It would even require flawless alignment with God to receive help through a route that is not man. Think of the manna from heaven that fed the children of Israel, think of the raven that supplied food to Elijah. Those kind of help are scarce today because not too many people are as yielded to God as those prophets were.

Even at that, it’s far easier for God to help you through a man than anything else. The reason for this is simple, man is the highest authority on the earth. Personally, when dealing with people, I’d prefer to talk to the person in charge. And that’s because any agreement I enter with the leader will put the subjects under control. Anything could have happened to the raven that was supplying food for Elijah. Someone could have killed it.

As far as the earth is concerned, always remember that man is in charge, and living life would be sweeter if God routes your help through man. However, when it comes to attracting helpers from man, certain principles must be put in place. Let’s talk about a few of them:

1. POWER

Psalm 110:
1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power…

Did you notice verse 3? People will be willing to help you in the days of your power. When Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit, we were told that his fame went abroad. You can’t have genuine power and lack helpers.

But power is a product of waiting on the Lord through the fellowship of His Word. Power flows from you when your approach to life is the revelatory knowledge you have received from God’s Word. Verse 2 says, “thou shall send the rod of your strenght out of Zion”. That literally means that you’d be operating with the revelations you encountered from God and His word. The word of God is power, but that power only comes alive when you access revelation.

A lady met me some time ago and told me how her life has been full of disfavor despite all her prayers and kingdom engagements. After praying for her, I sent her some of my ebooks to read and revert daily. After two days of reading, she began to receive favour. The shocking part was, the person who sent her money said he has always wanted to send her money. Could it be a coincidence that it’s when she began to access revelational knowledge through the books I sent her that the man was compelled to finally send the money? No way! It couldn’t have been a coincidence. His will to help her was established on the premise of her revelational knowledge.

Revelation repositions you, both in your mind and action. Hannah was sad as she prayed for a child, but the moment she received revelation from the prophet, her countenance changed. And the moment her countenance changed, her desire was established. Revelation is powerful!

One of the easiest ways to access revelation is to engage in fasting and prayers. Verse 1 says, “Sit at my right until I make your enemies your footstool”. A sitting position is a learning position, and if you have to sit until your challenges become your footstool, then it means you should wait on the Lord in a fast until you access revelation that would put you in charge of the situation.

Bishop David Oyedepo would often share his experiences on how revelation put him in charge of situations. First was his financial struggles. He had preached on financial prosperity for years, yet it wasn’t reflecting in his life. So he engaged in a 3 day fast, studying the bible and prosperity books authored by his mentors. On the third day, he encountered a revelation that made him scream, “I can never be poor”. He repeated the same process concerning the subject of sickness, and he encountered another revelation that made him scream, “I can never be sick”. Again, revelation is powerful!

2. SKILL

What problem is your gift solving, and in what measure is it solving that problem? Let me guess, none. That’s the thing, many of those people who claim to have great talents don’t realize that the only way to showcase a great talent is to become skillful in using that talent. Without skillfulness, talent may remain in the corner.

I’m a gifted writer, but I had to adopt certain communication skills. The reason why many people read my writing isn’t just because I’m gifted, but also because I skillfully communicate it. I once received a message from one of my readers; she said, “I like the way you break down your paragraphs, each of them communicates something”. That’s not just gift at work, that’s skill.

Ask people who hunt for talents, they can tell you the future of a talented person, not because of the talent the person possesses, but because of the training the person is willing to subject himself to. Most of the football stars we admire today have mastered the art of combining talent and skill. Prospects will not patronize you just because you have talents, but because you can skillfully use your talent to meet their needs. Everybody may applaud raw talent, but you’d only get paid when you can skillfully monetize that talent.

3. IRREPLACEABILITY

When it comes to developing skill for your talent, bear in mind that the level of help or favour you’d get has a direct connection to the demand for your talent, your skillfulness in meeting those demands, and the difficulty in replacing you.

The demand for your talent may be high, and you may be very skillful at administering your talent, but if you’re easily replaceable, helpers may still not come. For instance, if my audience can read the kind of things I write somewhere else, then I’d gradually begin to lose my audience. What people are looking for is result, not necessarily the person who provides the service. That’s why when people say they love you, you need to be able to discern what they really love. Loving you for what you’re doing is different from loving you as a person.

If your prospective helper finds someone who can better replace you, he’d replace you without consulting you. No hard feelings, it’s just the law of wealth. This is why you must work at getting better at the service you provide. No matter how good you are, there’s always someone who has gone one step ahead of you. Before your clients find that person, find out what that person has that you don’t have and develop it.
