TODAY, DON’T FORGET TO TURN ON YOUR LIGHT
One of the greatest revelations we’d find in scriptures is that light rules. Even kings who are actually appointed to rule still depend on light to rule effectively. It was King David that said God’s Word is a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path. In other words, he wouldn’t have made impact as a ruler if he didn’t turn on his light.
In Genesis 1:16, the bible says “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also”. Look at that; light rules, whether day or night. However, if you want to survive the darkness of the day, then you’d need greater light. Don’t turn on the night light when what you need is the day light.
Don’t forget that the earth was filled with darkness, and it was impossible to differentiate between the day and the night. Some people think that night means darkness; on the contrary, night is simply a period of little light. Darkness is complete blackout. You can still do a few things in the night, but nothing can be done in darkness. For instance, when the moonlight is up, you really don’t need to turn on your torch when you walk through your street at night. But when the moonlight is down or low, you won’t be able to take a step without turning on your torch on the same street, no matter how familiar the road is to you.
As believers in Christ, It’s important that we’re not deceived by the sun and moon light, those are not the light that determines whether we are free from the darkness of this world. The world isn’t just dark physically, it’s also dark spiritually. So a person may be walking under heavy sunlight and still be wallowing in darkness. Read through your Bible and you’d realize that this is true. Prophet Isaiah gave a very interesting prophecy about this. Let’s see how scriptures put it:
Isaiah 60:
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
Look at that! Darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness the people, yet they’d still be able to come to your light. That clearly tells us that it’s not a natural darkness but spiritual. Verse 19 and 20 continues by saying the sun shall no longer be our light by day nor the moon be for brightness at night. That means it’s an error to depend on the sun light or the moonlight. The Lord has to be your everlasting light. This is a spiritual thing. Don’t let the sun and the moon control your life, rather, let the light of God’s Word do the controlling.
This is more reason why I worry for believers who sleep all night. Just because it’s night physically doesn’t mean it’s night for you. Physical night is still light for a believer. Those who sleep sleep at night. The only reason why your body feels like sleeping at night is because you don’t have this revelation. My body can’t be tired at night, because I no longer have nights. I sleep at night because I’m done working, and it doesn’t matter if it’s 2AM or 10PM, God has become my everlasting light.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t sleep. Ofcourse you should, but don’t sleep away your destiny. Don’t sleep when you should tap into the Spirit to download inventions into this world. What’s the use of sleeping for 8 hours daily just because you desire to live for 120 years? It’s really not about the number of years, but the amount of impact you make. There are people who are still living today, even at age 120, yet we don’t know about them. Is that the kind of life you really want? There was no record that Adam slept except when God put him in a deep sleep.
Your Jesus was sleeping when there was a storm. That’s how powerful light is. He was done with work and decided to rest, the prevailing storm not withstanding. While others were wide awake and in fear, He was sleeping because of light. Even when they woke Him up, He wasn’t happy with them because the situation didn’t warrant that His rest be disturbed. Light is powerful!
Psalms 119:130 is clear on how light comes to us. It says “the entrance of thy word gives light…”. More reason the same Psalm says “thy word is a light unto my path…”. So when I say turn on your light today, I mean you should ensure that the Word of God rules the affairs of your life today. Just as you won’t be able to walk through a dark street without turning on your torch, you won’t be able to walk through any day without walking through it by the Word of God. Again, don’t be deceived by the light of the sun. You may go out and return safely, but did you really go out from the standpoint of the Spirit?
As I conclude, many others out there are depending on the light you’re coming with today. Matthew 5:16 says “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”. Therefore don’t do things the way the people of the world do their things, do your things with a revelational knowledge from scriptures.
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
