“Pastor, my supervisor threatened to fire me because I refused to inflate a receipt for him. What do I do?”
Approach your supervisor when he is less busy and respectfully make him understand why you can’t do what you’re being asked to do. If such a clause was stated in your appointment letter, you probably would not have considered that job.
If he insists after you’ve respectfully explained to him, then he’s free to fire you. Please note; don’t resign, let him fire you, so that the letter can be used as an evidence in the court of heaven of an evil that was done against you. Chances are that he’d reconsider, because most employers don’t have the guts to fire an employee that stands for the truth of God’s word. They may try to act as though it doesn’t matter, but deep down, they know that terminating your appointment will be to their peril. They’d not only lose a faithful employee, they’d also have a case in the realm of the spirit, a case that will most likely crash the organization with time. Believe me, many organizations have crashed because of this.
As Christians, the only birthright we have is our faith in God. The devil knows this, and that’s why he has continued to make propositions against us just to make us sell our birthright. That’s right! Each time you compromise your faith, you’ve automatically traded with your birthright. And the thing about trading is that an exchange must occur in the process. It can’t be called a trade until you’ve received something for what you gave.
So if you compromise your faith physically, it automatically means that you’ve traded your faith for the consequences of whatever you did. For instance, if your boss tells you to forge a receipt and you did, you’ve traded your faith and received the consequences of the act of stealing. And the curse of the Lord is upon the house of the thief. This is how many Christians have attracted unexplainable curses to their lives and family, they compromised.
It’s quite unfortunate that many Christians do not know that there is a trading floor in the realm of the spirit where trading activities take place. That’s right, just as in the physical trading floor, transactions are sealed, deals are struck, values are exchanged by traders on the floor – with each trader having something to give and something to take in return.
In Genesis 25:29-34, the bible shows us a transaction that happened between Jacob and his brother Esau. This is a story we are all familiar with. Esau, who was the eldest, returned from his job hungry and requested that Jacob his brother who was preparing a meal for himself to give him a portion of the meal. Jacob agreed but on the condition that Esau would pay with his birthright. I’m sure that even Esau called this a bluff until his birthright was eventually given to Jacob. They never discussed this with their parents, yet it happened. Don’t play with spiritual things.
That event must have been really tragic considering the fact that Apostle Paul made an example out of Esau. Let’s see how the scriptures put it:
Hebrews 12:
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
Just look at that! His tears couldn’t reclaim his birthright.
Every man is supposed to be born into dominion, but Adam traded with our dominion and bought sin, shame and reproach. See how easily he traded the authority that God gave man. Satan received Adam’s crown and became ruler in this world. That’s why he could boldly declare to Jesus that the kingdom of the world was delivered to him. Let’s see how he put it:
Luke 4:
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
Who gave him the kingdoms of this world? ADAM! ADAM!! ADAM!!! THE earlier we understand that sin is a trading transaction, the better for us. Everytime we sin, we buy something from the devil, and that thing is called death. The wages of sin is death!
Isn’t it far better to lose your job than to buy death? Isn’t it better to live in poverty than to forge a receipt? Isn’t it better to reprove your children for a wrong than to allow your emotions and weakness set them free. They may be free from you, but that transaction wasn’t free. You also bought something for them. Something that will eventually destroy them.
Having said that, just in case you’ve compromised your faith, you can engage the blood of Jesus for your redemption. The word “Redemption” means to repurchase or buy back. It is the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt. It is also the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil.
Even before Jesus came, redemption has always been a law, it was part of the laws that God gave to His people. Read Leviticus 25:25-50. It talks about the possibility of a rich kinsman redeeming a poor kin who sold himself for lack of money. Jesus is our Kinsman, and He redeemed us or paid for us by His blood. He paid in full, so there’s no other payment required to be free from whatever hold the devil has on you. We have received eternal redemption by His blood.
Let me conclude with this; Jesus died on the cross, but believers do not know how to use the blood that has been made available. The blood is the evidence of a concluded trade, you can literally go to the court of heaven and present the blood of Jesus as your purchase receipt to freedom. Believe me, you’d be granted freedom from whatever hold Satan has on you. THE BLOOD!
I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.
Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
