“Pastor, since they removed fuel subsidy, things have not been normal for me. What do I do?”

Start by working on your mentality towards natural changes. Things are not expected to be normal for a believer. We are not natural beings, so natural things should not dictate how we live our lives. Situations are free to change in the natural, but those changes shouldn’t affect us in any way. Isn’t it in your Bible that a thousand shall fall by your side and ten thousand by your right, but none shall come near you?

That’s right! None of the effects of these changes should come near you, your business, your family, or even your lifestyle. It’s not a negotiatiom, it’s a command; none shall come near you!

Let me show you two scriptures that will charge you up:

SCRIPTURE 1:

Deuteronomy 32:
9 For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
12 So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock.

Did you notice verse 13? He made Jacob suck honey and oil out of a rock. The situation you’re in now may seem like a rocky situation, but that doesn’t mean you can no longer live the best of life. If Jacob could still suck honey from a rock, then you can still live a sweet life despite the tough times.

It’s okay to manage yourself and cut down expenses, but instead of allowing that action affect your faith and mentality, I recommend that you do what Jacob did, allow God to lead you. This is not a season to attach yourself to any strange god or even man, allow God to lead you. It’s only when God is your shepherd that you shall not want. Go to Him to guide you on what to do in these trying times.

SCRIPTURE 2:

John 3:
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

We are born of the Spirit of God, and we do as the word permits, not as the world conditions us to live. The world may not be able to explain how we do it, but that’s because we’re not limited by the world. Don’t let your environmental condition determine your spiritual position.

Don’t stop using the Air Conditioner in your car just because you want to economize the fuel consumption. That action will do something to your faith. As far as I’m concerned, such an action is an act of fear, especially if you weren’t doing it when there was still subsidy. No matter how much fuel becomes, I’d still buy full tank. Not because I have the money, but because I’m born of God and I live by faith.

This is a battle, and it is not a season to live by sight. If you live by sight now, then you will not be able to overcome the great darkness that is still coming. Every new challenge should be an opportunity for a faith upgrade. Remember, our light affliction is only but for a moment, and it carries within it an exceeding and eternal weight of glory for us.

I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.

Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
