THIS WEEK, SPEAK LIFE! (A Must Read)

While it’s true that Jesus came to give us life in abundance, that abundant life is not in view until it begins to show in the words of our mouth. According to the old laws and even Apostle Paul’s writings, the proof that we believe what God has said is that we’d speak of the things He said. I can tell how much you believe God by how much you speak of Him, even in the face of difficult circumstances.

In this world, it matters that we speak life. If there’s anything that intercepts a potential blessing on its way to us, it’s the words of our mouth. Many Christians have lost opportunities only because of what they said. If you don’t know how to talk life, then you may have a tough life. Let me show you some scriptures:

SCRIPTURE 1:

Proverbs 18:
20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

So from verse 20, it is clear that our satisfaction in this world isn’t in the hand of anybody or any government, rather it’s in what proceeds out of our mouth. Even if I pray for you and prophesy from now till next week, if what is coming out of your mouth is not in agreement, your satisfaction is not in view. You have to understand this; your life can only enjoy satisfaction by the words that proceeds out of your mouth. When God was faced with an earth that was without form and void, it was His word that gave Him the satisfaction He needed. If we are made to live like God, then don’t expect to reap positivity when you speak negatively. What you sow through your speech is what you’d reap in your life.

The second part of verse 20 says, “…with the increase of his lips shall he be filled”. In other words, while a positive confession will give you a satisfactory lifestyle, an increase in your confession will fill your life with the things you confess.

Verse 21 continues by saying “death and life are in the power of the tongue”. The tongue in that scripture means vocal language or communication, and I’ve told you before that “language” in the realm of the spirit isn’t necessarily English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, French or Spanish; language is either death or life. Death and life can be released by our vocal languages. Each time you speak, the angels check to see if what you spoke is death or life. If you notice that things have been dying around you, check what you’ve been speaking.

SCRIPTURE 2:

Job 13:
19. Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

We were all amazed when Dr Isaiah Macwealth showed us this scripture during the service yesterday. We had never seen it before. This is to further prove that the power of life and death is really in your tongue. Just look at that; if you hold your tongue, you shall give up the ghost. Ofcourse this can translate to physical death, but it can also mean the death of anything else around your life. If you refuse to talk, death is inevitable. The question now is, why should anyone watch things die around him when the power to keep them alive is in his mouth? Also note, just because things are dying doesn’t mean they have to die, your tongue can still change the situation.

This is probably one of the reasons why the Holy Ghost gives us the gift of tongues, so that He can be sure we’re speaking life and not death. God is so merciful; just so that we don’t mess up our life with our words, He gave us the gift of tongues. Now you’d understand why people who frequently speak in genuine tongues do well in life. Why would Apostle Paul thank God that he spoke in tongues more than the other disciples? Could this be the reason for his unmatchable exploits in the kingdom?

So whenever the Holy Spirit wants us to speak right, He gives us tongues. Sometimes we may not know how to pray as we ought to, but the bible says the Holy Spirit makes intercession for us with groaning that cannot be uttered. Sometimes when we pray in our understanding, we may pray away the will of God, but not when the Holy Spirit is the one giving us the tongues. He ensures that the right information is being communicated. Tongues are powerful!

Asides the gift of tongues by the Holy Spirit, you can also speak in new tongues by engaging the name of Jesus. Jesus taught his disciples that those who believe could speak in new tongues in His name. Just incase you don’t like how lowly you’re speaking, you can engage the name of Jesus to speak stronger words. A simple application of that is, “In the name of Jesus, I speak in new tongues concerning my career”. Suddenly you’d find your words change from saying “things are hard” to “things are great”. That name of Jesus can constrain you to speak life.

Note that speaking in tongues doesn’t necessarily mean speaking in an unknown language, it just means speaking what is right and in the will of God for your life. While the gift of the Holy Spirit may operate it with unknown languages, it doesn’t mean a change in your language or vocabulary has to be a mysterious language.

Having said all of these, I don’t expect anything to die in your life this week. Speak life! When you wake up every morning, speak life! When you open your door to head to work, speak life! When you start your car or board a mass transit, speak life! When you get to your office, please speak life! When you see your children, speak life! When you meet your spouse, speak life! As you prepare your proposals, speak life. Just ensure it’s a week full of life for you.

I hope this has brought enlightenment to someone.

Remain ever blessed, in Jesus precious name!
